LOL at Jon DeWitt. I just need to make an addendum to his comments- If you studied drunk, you absolutely must also take the test while drunk. You need to be in the same frame of mind. To that end, a water bottle filled with vodka is a lifesaver halfway through the day.
Seriously though, just take a bazillion practice tests. The prep classes are helpful if you are not a self-motivated studier (I'm not) and you need the external pressure of someone else's deadlines ( I needed it). If you're good at making a schedule and sticking to it, you can probably just buy some books and go that route. I was a horrible procrastinator, so that would not have worked well for me.
If you haven't taken biochemistry, I do reccomend it highly. Useful for the MCAT and useful for med school. I took one semester of it and wished I had taken two.Do you have any advice on taking the MCAT?
Definitely take as many practice tests as you can. Take 1 first to see where your weaknesses are, then study more in those areas. Don't overthink though or over-worry, I did better on the MCAT than I did on the practice tests. You should be aiming for a 30 overall to be competitive.
study study study. a lot.
get a good night's sleep the night before and eat a good breakfast.
make sure you know how to take the test on a computer, because the mcat is now computer based.
edit: don't listen to john d. witt...being hungover when you take a test is retarded. not only will you probably be really tired and have a bad headache, you won't be able to think clearly. sure you won't talk yourself out of an answer, but you probably wouldn't have the right answer anyway if you are hungover
Most standardized tests are not about knowledge but about how good of a test taker your are. I highly suggest getting your self a study guide, or taking a prep class.
I have found that the best way to pass this kind of test is to take as many practice tests as possible.
Good luck
I used the same tactic for ACT, SAT, MCAT, FLEX, specialty boards, etc.: I drank heavily.
You either know the material or you don't. But it's easy to over-think when the pressure's on. A good hangover limits your ability to talk yourself out of a good answer.
Start studying about 2 months before the test for about 15-30 minutes a day. Take as many practice tests as possible, make sure you know what's being asked on each question and understand the format of the test. Don't sweat, if you know what you're doing, you should be fine.
