im moving into my new flat and it runs on electric heaters, do you use it a few hours an evening? or constantly on low heat? or any other ideas or advice?
thanksHow do you use economically use an electric heater? any advice is helpful!?
Depends. Are they on an economy meter? - if so they are best used evenings but can be boosted during the day. If plain heaters there is very little you can do to save money except put on more clothes.
BTW if you are renting ask the landlord or agent for the Energy Performance Certificate which they MUST have had done before marketing. This will give you a fair idea of costs and anything you can do to keep them down. Don't let them fob you off - it is a legal requirement. How do you use economically use an electric heater? any advice is helpful!?
Set the thermostat as low as you can stand, but not below 55 to prevent pipes from freezing. Use a little programmable thermostat that lowers the temp when you know your not needing heat as much, like at work or while your asleep. Get a electronic oil filled radiator to use in the bedroom when your sleeping so your not heating unused space.
yeah.... got to use it as fewest hours as possible and turn the switch off just after i have completed my meal preparation. thats the best thing u can do about it.constantly low heat may not effect on the electricity bill charged.
call the electric ompany. See if they will make set rate you consider affordable
