Since I start my 2 year prison sentence tomorrow, do you have any advice for me?

These are some things that I already know about:

1. Don't stare at other convicts.

2. Don't tattle.

3. Don't get tattoos.

***Is there anything else that I need to know?Since I start my 2 year prison sentence tomorrow, do you have any advice for me?
4. Don't talk too much. Someone might seem friendly early on and try to get you to talk, they are trying to find out about your background, any gang affiliations, basically they are sizing you up for whether you are a good target for something, so be careful with what information you give out. Be especially cautious of those of other races, in most prisons the races do not get along to any great extent.

5. Don't be afraid to stand up for yourself. If people see you are easy to push around they will do it for 2 years.

6. Don't get in debt to anyone for anything, they will always want to be repaid so avoid drugs, smoking, eating too much etc. You can only count on yourself and nobody is going to be generous, even if they seem like they will be.

7. Try to look as badass as possible. If you are young, maybe it's time to grow a beard, if you are skinny it's time to work out and eat like a maniac to get bigger.

8. Make use of your time inside. Find out quickly what programs there are, educational, working, whatever and get involved. You will need something to keep you busy and hopefully better yourself, so if you can get a qualification or learn something all the better.

9. Also be conscious of sharing anything, many in prison have various diseases ranging from Hep to HIV to god knows what. You may get or have already been given a hep shot to prevent that, but don't use a razor someone has used or drink from the same cup as someone else.

10. While it is very unlikely, in the event of anything too crazy happening think about your safety first. A huge fight or riot breaks out, get the heck out of there. Someone attacks you, either fight as hard as you can or run as fast as you can. In extreme circumstances don't think ';oh crap, if I do this I might not get parole early'; just think about staying safe.

I know a lot of this sounds like worst case scenario stuff but prison isn't all one big violent riot. Just be careful, focus on using your time to your advantage and try to follow your instincts about other people including the guards. Avoid those who you think will be trouble and try to be polite yet firm with others. Be guarded with information about yourself, but don't be too anti-social ... no harm in making a joke or talking sports here and there just to get along.

Good luck man.Since I start my 2 year prison sentence tomorrow, do you have any advice for me?
Aim at getting a job in the kitchen. There are perks in that job.

Don't call your fellow inmates convicts.

Keep out of trouble so that you can hope for early release.

See if there is anything you can trade off for physical support from potentially threatening inmates -- such as writing their letters for them.
Yes remember you'll be better off than most, with getting three square meals a day and heating this winter. Than all of the people who will be outside in a ecconomic depression living on the street or in a cold unheated room no warmer than standing in two foot of snow for a bowl of, navy bean, corn or pumpkin soup in a soup line. Take it easy.
Dont break the law! Lol, just kidding, that sucks though. I hope you are ok in there and if I were you I would just work out, use the time to learn and make yourself a better person. Good luck!
Stack up on cigarettes they use them as money in jail...

Work out a lot so no one would mess with you. Don't talk to NO ONE and if someone asks you something answer them in a broad way
Go to the nearest bar and console yourself, there's plenty of bars in prison.

Don't drop the soap.
Dont drop the soap lmao!
