Don鈥檛 you hate it when an acquaintance gives you an advice and you didn鈥檛 ask for one?

I understand when friends do it, but when she is my mother's friends and I see her ones a year and tells me that I NEED lose weight, she knows that I just had my son

Then she acts like she is giving me an advice

People can be rude sometimes don't u think?Don鈥檛 you hate it when an acquaintance gives you an advice and you didn鈥檛 ask for one?
Yes they can be. So can I, and sometimes bluntness is called for. I would have told the old biddy that she was rude and it was none of her business. A once-a-year acquaintance of my mothers, really doesn't mean much to me if she is insulting.Don鈥檛 you hate it when an acquaintance gives you an advice and you didn鈥檛 ask for one?
People need to learn when to shut up and mind their own business.
Yeah, it can be annoying. I usually just smile and nod and say ';thanks for the tip!'; ... but then I'm passive-aggressive. lol
I feel your pain/frustration/'wth are they saying this' confusion. I was realy depressed about this guy and my friend comes up to me, talks to me a bit, and then leaves, but the guy who was tagging along stayed and started talking to me and gave me DATING ADVICE. like he was trying to COUNSEL me. And it was BAD advice and I'm thinking ';Dude I don't even KNOW you';..... it's wierd.
You can take either road on this one. The high road and say ';Thanks'; and then thank the Creator she visits only once a year. Or the road I always want to take, but don't and ask her what she did to get rid of the body odour problem, or what she does to help with her a) stained teeth; b) bad skin; c) facial hair or whatever personal matter that you think she may be sensitive about. You can also just not be around when annoying guests visit your mother, scheduling a beauty day or ';completing an important project'; when they come around. Some people just lack tactfulness and don't understand that personal advice is given only when asked although they mean well.
oh you are absolutely right.

i mean even if it's your friend giving you advice when you did not ask for it is already irritating, how much more her mother who you don't even see or talk to that often!
