Spiritually speaking, what is the best ';life advice'; you have ever received?

Seriously (or at least semi-serious)Spiritually speaking, what is the best ';life advice'; you have ever received?
';There is only one good, knowledge, and one evil, ignorance.'; - Socrates

';Contentment is natural wealth, luxury is artificial poverty.'; - Socrates

';Happiness depends upon ourselves.'; - Aristotle

';A bad peace is even worse than war.'; - TacitusSpiritually speaking, what is the best ';life advice'; you have ever received?
One of my attributes is I love to love people, and everything that comes with love. Then a good friend told me, ';Don't be so generous giving of yourself. Many people today will take your kindness as your weakness.'; It is sad for me to say this, but I finally realized how right she is.
Lots and lots. Here's a few;

You can't control other people.

If your waiting on me, your stalling.

The greatest source of misery is clinging on to past hurts

Keep your powder dry.

Best thing a man can ever do for his children is love their mother.
When my mom told me, ';This too shall pass';. No bad situation lasts forever - even if you can't see it, there is a light at the end of the tunnel (and it's not a freight train coming your way, regardless of what Metallica says).
Find the courage to change the things I can, the serenity to accept the things I can't, and the wisdom to know the difference.
Do the things that will make you happy in THIS life.

Then worry about the afterlife.

Because we don't know everything, but we do know for a fact that this life actually exists.
'; seek first the kingdom of G-d and his righteousness and all things may be added unto you';

';Jesus came that we may have life and life abundantly';
If you know that God has grace for you, shouldn't you have at least a little bit of grace for yourself?

God bless you.
Sing out.
Always put your TRUST in God.

My uncle, who is a former seminarian for 12 years and a very Godly person told me that shortly before leaving for America.
Less serious:

Don't eat yellow snow - My father

Serious:

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. The mind is everything. What we think we become. - Buddha
believe nothing, no matter who tells you it, unless it makes sence to you.
treat people the way that you would like to be treated.

and

What goes around comes around.

(these two often go together)

edit: good one succubus.
What you think is so important today, may not be so important tomorrow.
Never say or do anything to your children you wouldn't want to see said or done to your grandchildren.....
Question Everything.
Don't do drugs. Don't drink.
Keep your memories, but keep your powder dry, too.
You can't control everything, but you *can* control how you react to it.
Never trust a christian.
The concept of God is neither practical or necessary.
Love. Thy. Neighbour.
Always wear clean underwear.
Just fukitol
Treat others the way you would like to be treated.
';Preach not to others what they should eat, but eat as becomes you, and be silent.';
don't take life too seriously, after all, you're not gonna get out of it alive.
Don't ever let yourself become the victim.
1. Don't sweat the small sh*t.

2. It's ALL small sh*t.
Forget about it.
