What Advice would you give to someone who wanted to live overseas?

Namely Japan China those sort of countriesWhat Advice would you give to someone who wanted to live overseas?
I think the big question, you have to ask yourself is, why do I want to live overseas and list the benefits/cons from your current situation. Is it temporary/permanent and how are you going to survive? You might also want to visit the other country your most interested in before you make a decision. Japan and China are quite different. If you can't speak the native language, most likely you will have to teach English. Do you really want to do this for a career?

I decided to go to Japan to teach English for a year after graduating from university. I loved it there and it was a great experience but I couldn't see myself teaching any longer. What Advice would you give to someone who wanted to live overseas?
Live for how long ? You're going to need a four year degree. ';Those sort of countries';??? Japan and China are as different as night and day. You're going to have to know something about the country and people before you even think of moving there. Language, culture, customs, ect. It's not a cake walk. You have to have a way to earn money and support yourself. And this isn't easy.

My advice ? Don't.
Learn the language, realize there will be ups and downs (some people call this culture shock), know that not everything will be what you expected it to be (good or bad), go for it as you're going to learn a lot!
Go for it!! Try it out and if you don't like it, you can always go back to your home country or try living somewhere else.
